Members of the Sealed Knot re-enactment group will be occupying the village to re-create the turbulent events of the English Civil War. This was when the men of Sutton St James stood shoulder to shoulder with the men of Crowland to resist the forces of Parliament in support of King Charles I.
 

Members of the 'Cittie of London Brigade' of the Sealed Knot will camp in the village re-creating living history, with demonstrations of drumming, pike drill, and some musket fire in which the public can take part.

This Spring Bank Holiday, the Sealed Knot will bring the sights and sounds of the English Civil Wars to Deene Park. The ancestral home of the Brudenell family was seized at the time by Parliamentary troops.
 

We’ll be creating the battle to seize Deene Park. This beautiful estate will echo to the sound of musket and cannon fire, the steady beat of the drums, the charge of cavalry and the clash of pike. Our Living History camp will bring to life both military and civilian life during the 17th century
